Frequently Asked Questions

Avocado Products

How does the product stay green without using preservatives?

We use an Ultra High Pressure Technology which uses only pure water pressure to kill bacteria and food spoilage microorganisms in the product, which keeps the product tasting fresh and natural.

What if we have leftovers?

Leftovers with guacamole?? Who has heard of such a thing? But, instead of opening the easy peel package, use a pair of scissors to cut one corner of the packet, squeeze out what you need without letting air into the pouch, and then fold the corner over using a clip or peg. Keep chilled and the product will last another day or so.

How do I store the products?

Our products need to be stored in the refridgerator. Our product is natural with no artificial preservatives so when it is at warmer temperatures over 6oC, it can deteriorate faster. The colder the place you put it in the fridge the better.

Will the product go brown once it is opened?

Yes, as our products do not use preservatives, once exposed to oxygen our products act the same way that a fresh avocado does when cut, and starts to go brown. To minimise this, try and reseal the pack as best as you can once opened if you don’t use it immediately, and keep refridgerated.

Can I freeze the products?

Yes, however use within 7 days once thawed.

What is the best way to thaw the frozen product?

The best way is to thaw it in your fridge overnight. But if you have some severe cravings, place it in a bowl of cool water for about 30-40 minutes and it should soften up. Not hot water!

Where is the product found in the supermarkets?

Our Products are located in the Fresh Produce chillers in most major New Zealand supermarkets.

Are your products Gluten Free?

Aren’t avocados full of fat?

Yes! The good kind of fat! Avocados are rich in monosaturated fats which have heaps of benefits associated with cholesterol, cancer and diabetes.

Are your products recyclable?

We try our best to be green and recycle all of the avocado green waste through a local compost company. While you can recycle the cardboard sleeve, the plastic wrapping cannot be recycled. We have to use this packaging as it has a high oxygen barrier which keeps the product fresh and natural and without it the product may spoil.

Are the avocados from New Zealand?

Yes, of course!
